Half day tour to Carrara marble quarries and Colonnata (Wednesday and Sunday)

We visit a real working quarry in order to learn how the marble was and is extracted nowadays, our guide gives also us some geological information on the territory surrounded by the Alpi Apuane, nown worldwide for their “white gold” marble.

Our discovery continues through the Tunnel of the ancient “Marmifera” railway by which the marble was carried from the quarry to the harbor of Marina di Carrara. This means of transport had been working for almost one century as it has been permanently stopped in 1964 to develop the road transport.

We finish our trip in the sign of taste towards Colonnata, we visit a “Lard House” where the famous “Lardo di Colonnata IGP”, is produced and spend some time relaxing and tasting the lovely lard.

Full day trip to Cinque Terre (Wednesday and Saturday)

First stop of our itinerary is Manarola, where, besides the fascinating village, it will be possible to visit the Museum of Sciacchetrà (local liqueur) or the panoramic village of Volastra.

After lunch, a bit of romanticism along “Lovers Path” towards Riomaggiore.

Then, train or boat, according to sea conditions, to Monterosso.

Free time to discover the village or to lie on the central sandy beach.

We arrive in Vernazza, by train in the late afternoon to visit one of the most beautiful and colourful villages in the world enjoying an unforgettable view.

Train to La Spezia where the bus waits to drive us back.
